Suzuki India to launch a fully faired version of the Suzuki Gixxer 155cc early next year

Suzuki Gixxer with full fairing launching in 2015

Japanese auto major, Suzuki is working on a new variant of the recently launched Suzuki Gixxer 155cc street motorcycle. One of the test mule bikes was spotted along with a basic Suzuki Gixxer, doing the rounds in India.

The cycle-parts used on the fully faired Suzuki Gixxer looks similar to the naked version, including the fuel tank, two-in-one exhaust, foot pegs, front disc, alloy wheel design and the seat. The significant changes are the full front fairing, windscreen and headlight which give the front design hints of the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Also new are the rear view mirrors which come positioned on the front fairing, and could also feature a single piece rear grab-rail. We expect the new bike to be named as the Suzuki GSX150R and expect it to be introduced with an optional rear disc.

The Suzuki GSX150R will be powered by the same 154.9cc motor that does the duty on the Suzuki Gixxer, with power output in the range of 14.8PS at 8,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. But with the front fairing completely covering the single cylinder, air-cooled engine, it would be interesting to see how Suzuki, engineers the air flow to keep the motor cool.

The new Suzuki GSX150R will be launched early next year and will take on the likes of the new Yamaha Fazer v2.0 and is expected to be priced around Rs 90,000, which is about Rs 6,000 more than the Suzuki Gixxer.
