Competition Check : Maruti Alto 800

Maruti-Suzuki is all set to strengthen its foothold in the entry level hatch segment with its new Alto 800, but its not going to be easy with Hyundai's brilliant Eon and the just launched New Chevrolet Spark raking up a lot of attention and buyers

Hyundai Eon

Hyundai Eon

Hyundai had enough of the Alto and decided to come up with its very own Alto competitor. The result was the Eon. Hyundai put a lot of thought behind this little car and it shows. A radical design makes the Eon one of the best looking cars in its class with the interiors following suits. Space is pretty adequate considering the Eons diminutive dimensions and Hyundai has got it spot on with the packaging. A three pot 800 cc engine makes the Eon quite a peppy performer and it’s quite efficient too. Great looks, smart interiors, a peppy motor with a horde of features makes the Eon, the car to beat in this segment.

New Chevrolet Spark

Chevrolet Spark face-lift

The Chevrolet Spark has been around for quite some time now and GM has just given its little car a mid life makeover. Now with a more sporty appearance, the new Spark indeed comes across as quite a looker. The interiors have been spruced up as well and look a lot better now. The 1.0 litre engine remains the same offering a good balance of city performance and efficiency. With fresher insides and outsides, the Spark is sure to find a lot of takers.
