The Tempo Kubelwagen is in fine fettle and runs well but it would have been something else in its natural habitat, running as a scout car for Field Marshall Erin Rommel's Afrika Korps.

Model History :

Dr Ferdinand Porsche while designing and helping to manufacture the Volkswagen KdF small car for Adolf Hitler was also simultaneously working on preparing a range of go-anywhere all wheel drive cars for defense applications and of these Kubelwagens, literally go-anywhere all terrain vehicles one such was made for German army use by Tempowerke A.G. Kubelwagens were made in rear wheel drive and all wheel drive forms while a few also had twin engines, one up front driving the front wheels while the regular unit drove the rear wheels. All engines were based on the flat four boxer Porsche had designed for Adolf’s baby which after WW II went on to be known as the Beetle.

Provenance :

This was an-ex German army vehicle which came to Hyderabad. Not much is known about it but from there it went to a dealer in Bangalore from whom Badamikar purchased it.
