Volkswagen offers the Turbocharged and direct injected 1.2-litre engine in the Vento

Volkswagen Vento TSI launched

Volkswagen has officially launched the much-anticipated Volkswagen Vento TSI at a price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Equipped with the same 1.2-litre, turbocharged and fuel injected engine that also does duty in the Polo, the new Vento TSI will effectively replace the 1.6-litre Automatic Petrol variant. The Volkswagen Vento TSI comes with the company's award winning DSG 7-speed gearbox that offers seamless gearshifts.

The 1.2-litre four-cylinder, turbocharged and fuel injected engine produces 105PS of power and 175Nm of torque. The Vento TSI also features additional safety-oriented technology such as a Hill-Hold function and Electronic Stability Program. Just like the 1.6-litre, manual variant, the Vento TSI features climate control and rear AC vents. The infotainment system featuring USB, AUX and a SD card reader has also been carried forward to this new offering. The Vento TSI also features a premium leather interior, height adjustable driver seat and a rear AC vents to maximize passenger comfort. The Vento TSi also comes standard with 185/60 R15 wheels and tyres that accentuate the Volkswagen Vento’s superior handling.

Volkswagen 1.2-litre TSI Engine

Volkswagen claims a fuel economy figure of 16.93kmpl according to ARAI, which can be attributed to the combination of the small capacity turbocharged engine and the DSG automatic gearbox. The TSI will be sold alongside the standard 1.6-litre Volkswagen Vento, which comes equipped with a manual gearbox and comes in both petrol as well as diesel variants. Although the Vento TSI is priced at a premium as compared to the Volkswagen Vento 1.6-litre Automatic that it replaces, the combination of Volkswagen’s award winning and highly effective TSI powerplant and the DSG technology is definitely worth the extra cost.
