Tata Safari Storme launched at a starting price of Rs 9.95 lakh

by Priyadarshan Bawikar Posted on 17 Oct 201254,250 Views28 Comments

The newly incarnated Safari has finally been rolled out at an attractive though expected Rs 9.95 lakh for the base Lx variant going all the way up to Rs 13.66 lakh for the top-of-the-line Vx 4x4 trim (ex-showroom, Delhi)

One of the first and most aspirational SUVs in the country has just undergone a major overhaul. Yes, the new Tata Safari, which had been in the domain of rumour and speculation, is finally here. And no, this is not a mere nip and tuck job, but pretty much a massive upgraded. Called the Safari Storme, this new SUV is all set to take the Indian market by storm, or should we say ‘storme’.

On the outside, there isn’t too much to differentiate this car from the one that we’ve been seeing for the last 14 years – a new grille, a new bumper, new headlights with projector beams, new wheels and some odds and ends here and there pretty much sums it up. Overall, the Storme is a little wider than its predecessor, while being marginally longer and lower. On the inside however, it’s a whole different ball game. The interiors are now reminiscent of the Tata Manza thanks to a brand new dashboard and centre console. The cabin now exudes a significantly more upmarket appeal and even features full leather seats and power windows all around. Also Read: Tata Safari Storme complete details.

More importantly though, the Safari’s mechanicals have seen their fair share of upgrades too. While the 2.2-litre diesel engine maintains a similar cubic capacity and power/torque figures (140PS/320Nm), the engine now features Variable Turbine Technology (VariCOR) for a more responsive and refined driving feel. And now with equipped with the chassis from the Tata Aria, the Safari Storme should promise better ride and handling characteristics too.

it took 7 years for TATA to give first facelift to Safari" . I think they are yet to learn from the experiences. After the 2.2 Ltr launched it took hell lot of time for TATA design engineers to think that an indicator on SideORVM would have been make a huge difference to vehicle looksNow a new model relased thinking that a chrome plate with a name on the front (Like a landrover ) will attarct buyers. TATA is still Living in 17 th century when it comes to the design. Its the time for TATA to understand that 'its just the old design " thats the only thing attarcting the Safari tobuyers. So i would say the new interiors in storme should be a better choice for the existing Safari facelift. Rear disc brake
