Making its debut in Rajasthan, the Tata Venture MPV has been built to accommodate up to eight passengers plus luggage in reasonable comfort. The vehicle boasts of having a footprint and maneuverability that is comparable to a hatchback car and this has been achieved by keeping the overall length of the vehicle down to under 4 meters in length.
The Tata Venture's design in reminiscent of the ACE mini truck, but the similarity ends there. A semi monocoque construction gives the Venture a rigid and robust shell that has been crafted into a rather cute looking people mover. The design treatment is simple clean lines with ample use of glass to offer a glasshouse effect and create a sense of space for passengers.
Powering the Venture is a 1.4 liter turbo diesel engine that churns out a decent 71 PS and is suited to haul heavy loads. Purposefully built to be a cost effective mode of transport, the Venture offers a class leading mileage of 15.42 kmpl according to ARAI testing.
Further to this, the Venture boasts of two tone beige interiors, a dual HVAC unit, power steering, power windows, reverse parking aid, keyless entry and rear wipers. In terms of safety the little MPV features a collapsible steering column, side impact beams and an engine immobilizer.
The Tata Venture is available in five colors and three trim levels and is priced between Rs. 4.05 lakhs and Rs. 5.07 lakhs (ex-showroom Jaipur) depending on the seating capacity opted for and trim level. All Tata Ventures will be offered with a warranty of 2 years or 75,000 km (whichever is earlier).
The Venture is set to take on the EECO and to some extent the MSIL Omni in a head to head turf war for being the ultimate affordable people mover.
