Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG

There is always a certain charm about old school vehicles, especially SUV’s. So when we talk about one of the longest serving vehicle in series production, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with AMG badging, it gets special indeed. In its 34th year of series production, the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class continues its blazing success trail. Equipped with even more luxurious interiors, discreet modifications in design and styling, enhanced safety features, new infotainment system and a powerful 5.5 litre supercharged AMG engine to boot; the G 63 AMG made its recent India debut in a glitzy event at the nation’s economic capital.

With a rated output of 545 PS from the supercharged 5.5-litre V8, the G 63 AMG develops a humongous torque of 760 Nm which gives it the performance to decimate most sportscar’s on the tarmac and at the same time possess the ability of a mountain goat when veered off the beaten path (of course with the right kind of tyres). And even with all that power, the G63 remains extremely efficient thanks to the standard-fit ECO start/stop function.

And it looks the bit too with those incredible proportions and massive girth. Adding further character is the AMG radiator grille with chromed twin louvers and AMG wheel-arch flaring with the V8 BITURBO logo. There is also an AMG exhaust system with twin chromed side tailpipes which makes all the right noises, AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels in Titanium Grey with red painted brake calipers and 275/50 R20 tyres. The stylish look is completed to perfection by the standard-fit Exterior Stainless Steel package.

The insides as expected are top notch. As you step inside the vehicle one is impressed by the illuminated AMG stainless steel door sill panels, seats in impressive designo leather, leather-trimmed dashboards and multi-function steering wheel with door centre panels in ruffled leather, headlining in anthracite Alcantara and various ambient lighting possibilities. The standard-fit chrome package with designo trim in a choice of three versions further complement the dynamic impression created by the interior which can also be specified with carbon-fibre trim.

In a first of its kind engagement, the launch of the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG in India was also the platform to announce the premier of the much awaited movie, ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’. The star studded cast apart from Bruce Willis, also includes Jai Courtney and Sebastian Koch. Released across Indian theatres this movie is being translated across 5 Indian languages and is eagerly awaited by action film buffs across the country.
