Kawasaki’s fastest street legal motorcycle, the H2, has been launched in India across Kawasaki showrooms in five locations, at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 29 lakh.

The Ninja H2, one of Kawasaki’s top-end models, will be brought in as a CBU and will be powered by a 998cc liquid-cooled, four stroke, in-line four cylinder supercharged engine, that achieves engine power of 200PS.

Kawasaki says the newly designed trellis frame of the Ninja H2 delivers straight line stability and sporty cornering with its excellent balance of rigidity. And Kawasaki spent considerable research and development on supercharged engines and particularly on the H2 before launching it.

“We spent seven years studying and carrying out development of the supercharged engines and two more on producing the Ninja H2,” said Satoaki Ichi, Chief Project Manager of the Ninja H2 product development.

And technology was not limited to the supercharger. The aerodynamic body design was shared from Kawasaki’s Aerospace Company and advanced technological know-how was shared from other group companies which have been incorporated in the innovative engine and chassis design of the H2.

The Ninja H2 will be brought in as a CBU model from Japan along with other Kawasaki CBU superbikes like the ZX-14R, ZX-10R, Ninja 1000, Z1000, Z800 and the Versys 1000. India Kawasaki Management says, technicians at all service centers are trained to service the Ninja H2 as well.

Currently Kawasaki has showrooms in five locations in India – Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. Three or four new showrooms will be opened in the current fiscal year. Apparel and accessories will also be available in Kawasaki showrooms.

And there’s more good news for Kawasaki fans – India Kawasaki Deputy Managing Director Shigeto Nishikawa has confirmed that the Z800 will continue to be sold at the ‘introductory price’ of Rs 7.5 lakh earlier announced.

Currently, the above 500cc superbike market accounts for about 700 bikes being sold every month. India Kawasaki holds about 10 per cent market share in that space and intends to increase its market share to 20 per cent. Kawasaki will also be introducing one or two new models in this fiscal year.
