With the sport 250cc segment fast gathering interest the world over, Honda has launched an all-new sporty CBR250R motorcycle meant to appeal to buyers who are interested in opting for a low-budget yet stylish performance motorcycle. While most of the 250cc machines in the market today boast of a twin-cylinder engine, the Honda CBR250R instead employs a 249cc single cylinder 4-valve DOHC motor with PGM-Fi that produces an impressive 26PS of power at 8,500rpm and 22.89Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. There has been a sudden surge in the small capacity motorcycle market with considerable number of buyers opting for a compact motorcycle that is versatile, stylish and practical for daily use as well as can be used for recreational purposes.
The good news is that the new Honda CBR250R will be coming to India sometime mid-2011 and it will be manufactured in the country by Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) in order to make sure that it carries a highly competitive price-tag in second largest two-wheeler market that is India as against the current and only 250cc motorcycle in the Indian market, the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, which retails at Rs. 2.69 Lakh, (Ex-showroom, New Delhi). If priced correctly, Honda will certainly find a sizeable number of takers for the CBR250R, considering it has a very convincing appeal with big-bike styling and a highly efficient engine with wide-spread torque curve to provide the bikers with practicality as well as thrills.
The Honda CBR250R will be sold in India in two trims, one with the Honda-patented C-ABS and the other without it. Available in two colour schemes, the Honda CBR250R is designed to appeal to a wider audience who would want a motorcycle for multiple purposes like commuting, touring or sport riding.
