It's raining superbikes. After Kawasaki's launch of the H2, Yamaha now reveals the prices for the R1 and the R1M

2015 Yamaha YZF-R1

While the YZF-R1 and the YZF-R1 M hasn’t been launched official as yet, prices of the two motorcycles have been revealed on their official website. The Yamaha YZF-R1 and the YZF-R1 M have been priced at Rs 22.34 lakh and Rs 29.43 lakh respectively. The website also reveals that the 2015 R1 will be made available in Racing Blue and Racing Red and the R1 M will only go on sale in the Silver Blue Carbon shade.

Yamaha has built both these motorcycles from scratch with just the crossplane crankshaft retained from the outgoing model. Powering the 2015 Yamaha R1 is a new crossplane motor that has been christened CP4 by the tuning fork brand. Under the fairing, both these mean machines sport a 998cc inline 4-cylinder that make an insane 200PS and 112.4Nm. This means it makes almost 19PS more than its predecessor.  To derive maximum power from the unit, Yamaha has fitted these two motorcycles with titanium connecting rods and forged aluminium pistons.

But that is essentially where the similarities end; there are quite a few differentiating factors between the two motorcycles with the YZF-R1 M being slightly more track focused. The YZF-R1 M tips the scale at 199kg and is 1 kg lighter than the R1. The seat height of the R1 M is higher by 5mm over the R1’s 855mm.

While the YZF-R1 comes loaded with electronic aid like traction control, slide control, launch control and Anti-lock braking system. Needless to say the YZF-R1 M comes more heavily loaded with features as opposed to its twin. It gets Ohlins racing forks at the front for increased stability, a specially made data logging system that records, lap timings, throttle position, lean angle and more.

The Yamaha YZF-R1 will go up against the likes of the recently launched Kawasaki Ninja H2.
