Priced at Rs 9.17 lakh, Ex-showroom Delhi, the 85PS Adventure Edition is expected to broaden the popular Duster's appeal

Renault Duster Adventure Edition

After introducing the 110PS Adventure Edition in February 2014, Renault has now launched the 85PS version in Adventure Edition. The 85PS Adventure Edition Duster is priced at Rs 9.17 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

The Adventure edition sits above the base RxE variant. It costs approximately Rs 55,000 more than the RxE and for that money, you get smoked headlamps, extra plastic cladding over the flared up wheel arches and the bumper, an extra set of high-set fog lamps, blackened B-pillar, body coloured outside rearview mirrors and alloy wheels. On the inside, the 85PS Adventure Edition doesn’t get all the features of the 110PS version. So there’s no touch-screen entertainment system, in fact there is no entertainment system at all, and a bit more kit missing. You get rear seat armrests though which isn’t available on the RxE trim.

But like the RxE, the Duster Adventure Edition has no safety equipment like ABS with EBD or Airbags. For a car costing over Rs 9 lakh, skimping on safety equipment as a trade-off for features just doesn’t seem right. Renault needs to look into this aspect for such a popular car like the Duster.

Speaking about popularity, the Duster recently crossed the one million units mark globally and India is its fourth largest market. Nissan also sells a badge engineered version of the Duster called the Terrano. Renault is set to add a 4x4 variant to the diesel 110PS Duster that is due just before the festive season commences in August. The Nissan Terrano will also get its own 4x4 version to expand the compact SUV’s reach and bolster its popularity among off-road enthusiasts.
