Ford launches new Fiesta variant

Looking at the price sensitive market in the country, Ford India has launched a new base variant – Ambiente, priced at Rs. 7.23 lakh for the 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol and Rs 8.99 lakh (both ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 1.5L Duratorq TDCi Style. The Ambiente packs some features that are offered in higher trims, namely the electric power-assisted steering, driver airbag, driver’s seat height adjuster, ABS, electrically adjustable outside rearview mirrors, tilt steering, guide me home headlamps, front seat belt height adjuster and adjustable rear headrests.

In addition to all these features, the top-end Titanium+ will have cruise control, rear park assist, Bluetooth voice control, auto power-fold mirrors, reverse parking sensor and chrome front grille. The Powershift Automatic Titanium+ variant, that is available only in petrol, will additionally have leather seats to add to the plush and rich feel.

The new Fiesta also comes with voice control on the top end Titanium+ package – a segment-first – that will allow for hands-free control over six functions: mobile phone, radio, CD player, USB drive, iPod and temperature. Integrated Aux-in Port to ‘plug and play’, digital signal processing to enhance sound quality, as well as intelligent phone utilities to swap, hold, mute and transfer calls.

“To bring the global quality, addictive driving dynamics and intuitive technology to a wider base of customers, we have gone further by introducing the Ambiente and Powershift Automatic variants at compelling price points. This also underlines our commitment to go further to democratize technology and provide customers with products that they want with segment-leading features and lower cost of ownership,” said Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India.

The Fiesta now comes in six variants – two in diesel and four in petrol that include two automatic transmission versions. The automatic transmission on the Fiesta petrol is a dual clutch and comes in with a 10 year/2,40,000 kilometres warranty, a first for its segment. Currently, the company offers four models – the Figo, Fiesta Classic, Fiesta and the Endeavour.
