Fiat Linea Classic launched

Those planning on buying an affordable mid-sized sedan this festive season now have one more option to add to their shortlist. Fiat today launched the Linea Classic, a cut price version of its mid-sized sedan, at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol variant and from Rs 6.95 lakh-Rs 7.70 lakh for diesel variants. That’s more than Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the base petrol and diesel variants of the regular Linea.

The new sedan will be available in two trims – Classic and Classic+ and five colour options. Of course, the Classic variants lose out many of the bells and whistles of its pricier cousin such as airbags, steering-mounted controls, rear AC vents, etc, while alloy wheels become optional. The biggest change is under the hood with the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel now developing 76PS the same as the Punto as opposed to the 93PS on the regular Linea. The 1.4-litre petrol engine stays untouched and continues to put out 90PS.

The Linea Classic will compete with other entry-level sedans such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Toyota Etios, etc. Speaking on the launch Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and Managing Director, Fiat Chrysler Operations India, said, “Fiat India has exciting plans this festive season. To celebrate and share the festivities with our customers, we have launched the Linea Classic which will give them the luxuries of a sedan at the price range of a hatchback.
