Chevrolet Beat Diesel Launched

Powered by a smaller capacity 936cc, 3-cylinder engine, the Chevrolet Beat Diesel is available in four variants, priced between 4.29 - 5.45 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi)

A hatchback that established an absolutely refreshing sense of style through its unconventional, but bold design, the Chevrolet Beat being sold for over two years now in its 1.2 liter 4 cylinder petrol engine is a car with complete balance in performance, style and comfort.

However, seeing the growing demand for diesel cars in the country, GM has now introduced a diesel version of its Beat model, for which a lower capacity engine was specially designed for India application by GM Technical Centre India  and GM Power-train Europe (Read : GM Flexi-Engine Plant Inauguration- Talegaon).

Giving the Chevrolet Beat Diesel life is an all-new 936cc, 3-cylinder diesel engine that pumps out 58.5 PS of power @ 4,000 Rpm as compared to the petrol's 80-odd horses. But while, the power output on this new oil mill may seem a bit inadequate, a robust diesel torque of 150 Nm @ 1750 Rpm and its ARAI certified mileage of 24 km/ltr makes this stylish hatch, a real value for money proposition.

This engine is India specific, and it's not available anywhere else in the world for now. It is set to be the smallest diesel in the Indian passenger car space yet. Although, the overall design and interiors of the Beat Diesel remains identical to its petrol sibling, some minor changes on the new oil burner include its tyre width, that has been upsized from a 155-section on the petrol to a 165-section on the diesel, on identical 14-inch wheels.

The new Chevrolet Beat Diesel TCDi (Read : First Drive Report) will be available to interested buyers in four variants, starting with the base PS model for 4.29 lakh, the LS for 4.59 lakhs, the LT  for 4.99 lakhs and finally the top end LT (optional package) vairant for 5.45 lakhs (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). GM India is also offering its buyers 3 years or 1 lakh kilometers warranty with the purchase of this car.

i purchased the car 1 month ago and its phenominal its average is mindblowing and its having one of the best diesel engine as far as the diesel hatchback market is concerned. the car is delivering 19-20 kmpl in city and 23 on highways really a gem moreover the pickup and all are also good . and the best part is there is a full cover warranty from gm for 3 years or 100000km on full engine and suspension delivering piece of mind . at last 2 they are having free helpline service for beat diesel which wont charge you for the parts even in case of breakdown any where on a go.

exorbitant price not worth buying gm would have thought twice before arriving on such big price

3 cylinders are oudated.Even Maruti is strugling to sell thier 3 cylinder varaints and is offering heavy discounts but not on 4 cylinder variants like Swift and Ritz. Beat 4 cylinder , 16 valve petrol version is still better choice because of engine specifications and price.

If the BEAT Diesel is available at 4.6 Lacs (On Road Price for LT, the Fully Loaded Model), then it will be Super Hit Compact Hatch back Car. Otherwise, it has to crawl against its peers.

so much price difference,,,for such a small diesel engine????i dont think it is worthy.
