It's absolutely raining bike launches this month, and when we consider the bikes coming into play, I would say it's more of a hailstorm than a gentle shower of sorts. Our desi bike lovers are always on the lookout for something new and dynamic in the two wheeler segment, and with the recent launches like the Ninja’s new competitor the Honda CBR 250R, two 600cc premium motorcycles by Hyosung and the chunkier version of the all-muscle Hero Honda Hunk, our motorcycles fans are in a for a mega motorcycle treat as the year 2010 is passing through its final festive months.
But the big bike bang was not to end without one final explosion. Our fascination for BMW cars has resulted in its growing numbers on Indian roads, and now its time for the German auto maker's legendary endurance bikes to foray into the Indian motorcycles market.
BMW has announced the sale of its select R and K series motorcycles in India, as well as the Superbike S 1000 RR. The R series motorcycle on offer is the legendary enduro bike BMW R1200GS, which has a worldwide reputation of being one of the most unique motorcycles in its genre with its distinctive boxer engine in particular.
As for the BMW K series, which is regarded as the benchmark in the segment of large-volume 4-cylinder motorcycles due to their technological innovations and superior engine output, the bike on offer in all probability would be models in the 1300cc range. Both BMW's R and K series offer the very finest quality in chassis technology and an exemplary standard of safety with the BMW Motorrad ABS.
Commenting on the introduction of BMW’s bikes in India, Hendrik von Kuenheim, General Director BMW Motorrad said, "The BMW Group has already established itself very successfully in India with a local BMW automobile production and a sales network for BMW Group automobiles. Now the market for premium motorcycles is beginning to develop, too. We are confident our motorcycles will swiftly become established in timely preparation for the growing market."
