Since its launch in April 2010, the new BMW 5 Series has maintained its position as a dominant player in the luxury sedan segment in India. Available in two petrol variants - 525i and 530i, and now three diesel variants - 520d, 530d and 530d Highline, the BMW 520d now becomes the official entry level luxury sedan in the BMW 5 Series offering in India.
With its lightweight construction and power-packed 2-litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine, the new 520d offers an impressive fuel economy of 18.4 kmpl as declared by Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for Indian market specifications. Built to deliver a maximum output of 135 kW/184 hp as well as peak torque of 380 Nm at 1,750 rpm, the new BMW 520d can race to 100 km/hr from standstill in 8.1 seconds and comfortably achieve a top speed of 225 km/h.
Efficient Dynamics, Brake Energy Regeneration and the advanced Electronic Power Steering technology all come together to make the 520d a technologically superior car in its premium segment.
Commenting on its launch in India, Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India said, "The 5 Series is the core model in our product portfolio. The new BMW 520d sets a new benchmark for four cylinder diesel sedans by combining outstanding performance with incomparable fuel efficiency."
The new BMW 520d will be manufactured as CKD (completely knocked-down unit) at the BMW Plant Chennai, and can be yours for an ex-showroom price of Rs 36,90,000, making it far more affordable as compared to its muscular elder siblings.
On a more colourful note, the new BMW 520d will be available in a range of ten paint finishes: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Cashmere Silver, Deep Sea Blue, Havanna, Milano Beige, Space Grey, Titanium Silver, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect and Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect. Individual upholstery designs in Dakota leather will be available in four jubilant colour schemes.
Officially launched in Gurgaon on the 8th of December 2010, the new BMW 520d can be now be ordered through BMW dealerships across India.
