Hyundai has launched the Grand i10 LPG quietly at a price of Rs 4.92 lakh, ex showroom Delhi. This is for the solid paint variant while the metallic paint Grand i10 LPG costs Rs 4.96 lakh. The LPG Grand will only be available in the mid-spec Magna variant.
But that’s not all… In a bid to deliver high on efficiency, the LPG variant will not get the 1.2-litre kappa engine or even the 1.1-litre iRDE engine from the i10. Instead the recently revealed 1.0-litre three cylinder motor from the Eon will do duty in the LPG Grand i10. This smaller unit develops 69PS of power at 6,200rpm and 94Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. In the Eon, it returns an ARAI certified figure of 20.3kmpl so expect it to be a tad lesser in the Grand i10 due to its extra weight. The Grand i10 LPG will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The LPG kit will be factory fitted by Hyundai with a 34 litre tank capacity. Hyundai is also offering two-year unlimited kilometers warranty on the fitment. As part of the magna variant, fog lamps, keyless entry, central locking, rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows all round and rear AC vents come as standard.
With the 1.0-litre engine making its way into the Grand i10, it will be interesting to see if Hyundai starts offering it as a standard choice on other variants in the future.
