If you thought that any of Audi’s sedans available in the country till date were scorching performers, prepare to be totally blown away. The German luxury car maker has just launched the RS5 Coupe in India – one of the company’s fastest cars till date. The RS5 packs a massive 4.2-litre V8 FSI engine that delivers a massive 450 hp of power at a heady 8,250rpm. Even the torque figures from this two-door road-runner are equally impressive, with 430 Nm available from 4,000-6,000rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which enables gear shifts to be executed in a few hundredths of a second. With so much power and technology at its disposal, the RS5 can make the leap from zero to 100km/h in an almost unbelievable 4.6 seconds and has to actually be electronically limited to a top speed of 280km/h.
Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India commented on the occasion, “Equipped with a powerful V8 engine, a new permanent all – wheel drive system and a whole series of performance characteristics, the Audi RS 5 truly epitomizes progressiveness and is unmatched in terms of style, performance and driving dynamics. I am confident that the launch of the new Audi RS 5 will further help us consolidate our position in the sports car segment”.
Of course, the RS5 isn’t all about performance. Luxury and style is an integral aspect of this Ingolstadt Express. The striking bumpers, with large air intakes, at the front and a sporty diffuser insert at the rear also help to create the trademark Audi RS look, as do the flared wheel arches and side sill extensions that have been included to differentiate the body. The same can be said about the interior as well, as the RS5 is equipped with power-adjustable sports seats, aluminium inlays on the door sills and oodles of high-quality leather all around.
And the price for all this performance and luxury? The RS5 is will cost Rs. 76-lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and will be available in all Audi showrooms throughout the country.
