Audi’s flagship luxury limousine, the A8L, has been given a new option in the form of a 4.2-litre TDI diesel engine, with 354PS of power and a staggering 800Nm of torque. The A8L 4.2 TDI q can go from 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds and onwards to a limited top speed of 250km/h.

This makes the Audi A8L 4.2 TDI q the most powerful diesel luxury limousine in India. Its rivals, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 series and the Jaguar XJ sport 3.0-litre diesel engines, developing 212PS of power with 489Nm of torque, 248PS of power with 547Nm of torque and 274PS with 600Nm of torque respectively.

The ‘q’ suffix denotes Audi’s Quattro permanent all-wheel drive system that uses a 60:40 power ratio for the rear and front wheels. The Audi A8L 4.2 TDI q is the only all-wheel drive vehicle in its segment. The rest of the car remains the same. The A8L has great road presence with its 5.27-metre  lightweight body and striking design. The interiors remain the same with finely stitched leather, aluminium inserts, ambient lighting and spot-on switchgear.

“The Audi A8L 4.2 TDI q is an enchanting luxury sedan of classic and timeless elegance. Audi A8L has technical finesse and exceptional performance which will further define opulence in the Indian auto industry. The interior of the Audi A8 is light and has elegant lines, state-of-the-art fit and finish and the extraordinary attention to the minute details is captivating. Audi engineers have worked with exemplary dedication to every detail so as to deliver a product of true engineering art that will appeal to the perceptive Indian customer. I am confident that the launch of the new Audi A8L 4.2 TDI will see the same success that our previous models have enjoyed so far in India,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan took delivery of the first customised A8L 4.2 TDI q. The standard Audi A8L 4.2 TDI q is priced at Rs 1.07 crore (ex-showroom Maharashtra).
