2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG launched at Rs 68.5 lakh
The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG has finally been launched in India and has been priced at a mouthwatering Rs 68.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The CLA45 is the cheapest AMG powered car one can buy in India and is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that makes a stunning 360PS of peak power. The CLA45 AMG also comes with all-wheel-drive that helps put down the power.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA45’s entry into the market is just the beginning, considering Mercedes-Benz India is also planning to bring in the other ‘45’ badged cars, the A45 and the GLA45 to India eventually. The CLA45 AMG, being a 4-door Coupe, inspired by the likes of the CLS-Class has been launched first to gain the response from the niche AMG clientele and also as it is possibly the most beautiful compact saloon in the world today. Mercedes will also eventually launch the standard CLA180 or CLA200 spec cars in both petrol and diesel.
The CLA45 AMG comes with pre-programmed ‘Comfort’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Manual’ mode that allows the gearbox to adjust the ferocity of the shifts along with a louder and sportier exhaust note. The CLA45 AMG also comes with adjustable sports suspension that stiffens up the car and gives it an edgier feel. Overall, the CLA45 AMG is most certainly a performance car that one can drive everyday but can still offer enough drama to entice an individual. The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will go up against the likes of the Audi S4 but will also be training its guns at the likes of conventional sports cars like the Porsche Boxster and the BMW Z4. The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 will target young affluent individuals and will be available through all Mercedes-Benz showrooms in the country and through the new AMG centers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Chennai.
