Yamaha twists the throttle on ASEAN U-13 Football Cup Season 2

Starting May 16, 2012 at Mohammedan Sporting Club, Esplanade, the winning team would compete against four Asian countries

After a successful season of Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 Football in 2011, Yamaha Motor India kicks off the second edition of ASEAN Cup U-13 football in association with the Indian Football Association (IFA), West Bengal.  To be held from May 16 to 20, 2012 at the Mohammedan Sporting Club, Esplanade, these matches will offer budding footballers from West Bengal a chance to prove their mettle.


Qualifying rounds comprise of six matches amongst six teams from West Bengal, followed by four semi-final rounds and a final match deciding the winning team. This team will represent the India Yamaha Motor football team at the fourth Yamaha ASEAN Cup U-13 Football Finals to be held in Malaysia from July 13 to 15, 2012. Teams from India, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia will compete for the trophy.

“We received an overwhelming response from football enthusiasts across the country during the first edition of ASEAN Cup U-13 Football held last year. With the second season of the tournament we are all geared up to provide a platform to children who have a passion for the game,” said Jun Nakata, Director – Sales and Marketing, India Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd. “We have chosen Kolkata as the nerve centre since it has been contributing to the game for more than 100 years now. It is the hub of Indian football with 75 registered clubs across the city. It has the distinction of holding more than 150 coaching camps and 1400 matches per year. It is also home to some of the greatest football clubs India has ever seen and produced some equally great football legends.”


The Japanese bike maker presently sells the VMAX, MT01, YZF-R1, FZ1, Fazer, FZ-S, FZ, SZ, SZ-X, SZ-R, YZF-R15 Version 2.0, SS125, YBR 125, YBR 110 and Crux in India.
