The third edition of the Yamaha Riding Clinic was held at the Madras Motor Sports Track, Chennai recently. Yamaha had roped in ex-WGP rider Yoshiaki Kato as mentor for the newbie riders at the event.

The Riding Clinic involved both theory and practical training sessions. Participants were taught how to conduct basic bike check-ups, about correct racing posture, racing lines, braking and cornering techniques as well as made familiar with Daytona racing kits.

The camp was divided into Novice and Expert categories, with 30 riders in the Novice class and 20 in the Expert class. The first day was for training while the second involved competitive racing.

The participants of the Yamaha Riding Clinic will have the opportunity to participate in the Yamaha R15 one-make race in June 2012. And the winners will represent India in the Yamaha ASEAN cup race. Yamaha India’s aim behind hosting riding clinics and the R15 one-make race is to nurture Indian riding talent to international levels.

Jun Nakata, Director - Sales and Marketing, India Yamaha Motor said, “Yamaha has always been in the forefront in promoting motorsport along with safe riding skills. With such riding clinics, we are planning to take the Indian biking culture to an all-new level. Ever since its inception, the riding clinic has seen talent and we want to nurture this talent with more preparation and  training and see them succeed on international racing platforms. Starting this year, the novice category will also get to train on the R15 version 2.0 which was earlier available only to the expert class. We surely hope to see the riders improve their performance on the track after this training.”

The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 used by the riders at the 2012 Riding Clinic featured the Daytona racing kit which includes a racing exhaust system, racing ECU, high lift cam shaft, and petal shaped bigger disc brake. Yamaha India had launched these racing kits at select dealerships in 2009.
