There’s been no confirmation from Yamaha about a possible launch of the new scooter, but the Délight scooter has been spotted for the first time in India.
Gaadiwaadi.com spotted an undisguised Délight scooter, leading to speculation that the scooter may be launched in India after all, following its European launch last year. The Délight sports retro looks, with a round headlight and overall old school design.
Internationally, the Délight is powered by a 114cc engine with fuel injection which produces 7.2PS of power at 7000rpm and 7.6Nm of torque at 5500rpm. Although for India, Yamaha may just use the 113cc single cylinder motor seen on the existing Ray and Alpha models.
With its charming old school looks, the Délight, if launched, will be pitted squarely against the likes of Vespa, but will be possibly priced considerably cheaper than the Italian brand. The Délight however, is likely to be positioned as a premium offering from Yamaha and will, in all likelihood, be priced marginally higher than the Alpha and Ray models. So, expect a price tag of around Rs 55,000.
