Red Bull Racing’s Formula One championship drivers Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, who are ambassadors for the ‘Wings for Life’ campaign, have unveiled their specially branded RB8 Formula One cars for the 2012 British Grand Prix. Each car features over 25,000 photographs sent in by fans.

The Wings of Life campaign is a charitable body that donates 100 per cent of its collections to the Spinal Cord Research Foundation that is striving to find a cure for spinal cord injury. The initiative was open to fans across the world who wanted photos clicked by them to feature on Mark and Seb’s F1 cars.

Fans were urged to upload their photos on to Red Bull Wings for Life microsite and make donations as well. In addition to donations received, Red Bull Racing has matched every donation made. All donations will go directly go to spinal cord injury research across the world. The Wings for Life initiative has raised over 1 million Euros (Rs. 68.7 crore).

The photographs on the F1 cars represent every continent, and famous faces on the cars include former F1 driver Niki Lauda and footballer Thierry Henry.

“The paint scheme on my car for this weekend looks awesome, the guys have done a great job. It’s great that the fans can travel with me round the circuit for the whole weekend, while supporting an incredible cause. Let’s hope the livery gets a good result! I’m proud to be an ambassador for Wings for Life, which is doing fantastic work in its search for a cure for spinal cord injury,” said Webber on the Wings of Life campaign.

Sebastian Vettel added saying, “I think chances like this for the fans to be involved are great. I will have thousands of wing men and women with me on every lap of the track this weekend. The Wings for Life cause is a special one, I care a lot about the work they are doing and have been an ambassador of the charity for many years. It’s great for the fans to be able to join Mark, the Team and me at this year’s race in Silverstone. I’m looking forward to it.”
