Audi seems to have made up its mind to set the Geneva podium on fire. The luxury carmaker will unveil six new car models alongside the Audi prologue Avant concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The German carmaker will exhibit four new Audi R8 models – the Audi R8 V10, Audi R8 V10 plus, Audi R8 LMS and the Audi R8 e-tron at the motor show. Apart from these four models the luxury carmaker will also showcase the Audi Q7 e tron quattro which also marks the arrival of the first plug in hybrid in the Q model series and also the Audi RS 3 Sportback.
The top-of-the-range Audi R8 V10 delivers 609PS of power and sprints from 0-100kmph in just 3.2 seconds before hitting a top-speed of 330kmph. The second generation of the Audi R8 forms the basis for more models. The latest evolutionary version of the electrically-powered Audi R8 e-tron supercar achieves a performance figure of 462PS of power and a staggering 920Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0- 100kmph in 3.9 seconds before hitting a top-speed of 450kmph.
The new Audi R8 LMS race car is developed based on the new GT3 regulations due to come into effect worldwide from 2016. This year it will already be put through its paces at the factory. Despite massive performance increases, around 50 per cent of its components are the same as the series-production car.
By presenting the Q7 e-tron quattro, Audi introduces its second vehicle featuring a plug-in hybrid drive system. The large SUV is equipped with a six-cylinder diesel engine and a permanent all-wheel drive. Powered by the lithium ion battery, the large SUV covers up to 56km (on electric power alone with zero local emissions). Together with the diesel engine, the car can cover a total distance of 1,410km. According to the ECE standard for plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Audi Q7 e-tron quattro returns fuel-efficiency figures of 58.8kmpl with a CO2 emission level of less than 50gm/km.
The new Audi RS 3 Sportback comes equipped with a 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI engine which churns out 367PS of power. The model sprints from 0-100kmph in just 4.3 seconds with a top-speed of 480kmph. A seven-speed S tronic shifts power of the 2.5-litre TFSI engine to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.
The Audi prologue Avant concept is 5,110mm long, and 1,970mm wide. The luxury carmaker states that this new five-door concept offers unmistakable sportiness and variability. The German carmaker claims that the car boasts of a luxurious interior and passengers can stay connected with the world while on the go due to the innovative technology used in the car.
The Audi prologue Avant concept is equipped with the plug-in hybrid drive from the Audi Q7 e-tron quattro. The concept delivers 455PS of power, while the 3.0-litre TDI engine working in conjunction with the electric motor makes the concept sprint from 0-100kmph in 5.1 seconds.
More details on the concept will be revealed once it is officially unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Watch this space out for more.
