Volvo has sold 75 cars in the Indian market thereby registering a growth of 188 per cent over the corresponding period in 2012 when it sold 26 cars in the country.
The significant jump in sales for the Swedish car maker on a Year-on-Year basis was contributed to by the S60 sporty luxury sedan and the XC60 luxury SUV.
Commenting on the performance, Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, said, “We are very happy to have a great start to the New Year. We closed 2012 with almost a 150% annual growth and now a very promising start of 2013 with another record 188% YoY growth in January. We are overwhelmed with the faith our customers and dealer partners have bestowed on us. We would continue with our strategic associations and expansions in the country as we believe that India holds tremendous potential for our brand and want to make sure that we fully capitalize on the opportunities available while providing the best possible services for our customers with the best value at the most competitive prices.”
Volvo currently sells four cars in India, namely the S60 luxury sedan, the XC60 luxury SUV, the XC90 seven-seater luxury SUV and the flagship S80 luxury sedan. Prices for the Volvo model line-up range from Rs 26.47 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the most affordable Volvo S60 to Rs 46.50 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top-of-the-line S80.
