Putting to rest the rumours that Volkswagen will be selling its renowned motorcycle subsidiary, Rupert Stadler has said, “Ducati is not for sale.” Earlier, there were numerous gossips that suggested that the German car giant will be selling Ducati. The company has sustained a big financial blow thanks to the diesel emissions scandal.

Ducati has been a profitable organisation for VW and 2015 was the best year so far for the Italian manufacturer. In 2015 Ducati sold 54,800 units worldwide, 9,683 motorcycles more than it sold in 2014. Its highest selling motorcycle was the Scrambler, which alone stood at 16,000 units – a clear indicator of its popularity.

Ducati is also spreading its wings throughout the world and also in India, as it made its independent entry in the country this year. Moreover, it is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and has released a special edition motorcycle. The company is also organising a global ride, tagged as Global Trotter 90 that includes selected riders riding to different places of historic importance to Ducati. The ride is yet to begin, but the entries for the same has been closed a few days back.

Ducati recently launched the Panigale 959 at R 14.04 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), which is quite a compelling price for the level of performance, quality and refinement it offers. The Panigale produces 157PS of power and 107.4Nm of torque.
