Virgin breaks ties with Wirth
Virgin has decided to go part ways from its technical partner Wirth Research after a low performing 2011 season so far
Established just before the 2010 season, Virgin Racing was a joint effort of Manor Motorsport with Wirth Research and Virgin to penetrate and compete in the Formula One World Championship. Russsian sports car manufacturer, Marussia Motors joined the team after it acquired a huge stake in the team.
Virgin Racing has not been able to please the investors when it comes to performance on the track. Seven races into the season as this issue goes through the print process and Virgin have neither qualified anywhere over the 20th spot nor have they finished higher than 14th in any race.

"Integral to this review has been an evaluation of the technical direction of Marussia Virgin Racing. Marussia's goal remains to be in a position to be able to challenge for a podium finish at the inaugural Russian Grand Prix in Sochi 2014. With this in mind, it is readily apparent that the team must take major steps in order to accelerate its rate of improvement,” said the Team CEO Andy Webb.
The Team now wants to take complete control of its destiny and with the exit of Wirth Virgin wants to set new technological strategies. What these strategies are is a piece of news yet to reach our ears.
