Just when you thought that the Vespa 946 cannot be bettered in terms of styling, expect the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer to outdo themselves as they unveiled the Vespa 946 Belissimia. The Belissimia is the 2014 edition of the retro-futuristic designed Vespa 946 scooter that was launched last year in the European market and was showcased at the 2014 Auto expo. The major design highlight of the 946 was its floating saddle and designers have further honed it by providing a more chiselled and compact saddle on the Vespa 946 Belissimia.
The new saddles design endows the rider an option of a mono-seat or a twin-seat. Other updates include chrome plated rear rack alongwith new shades of Metallic Blue and Metallic Gray. The full LED headlamp, indicators and taillight and full-digital LCD instrumentation cluster has been retained on the Belissimia. Also the Vespa 946 Belissimia will be offered with a passenger kit that has been designed by Vespa to match the colour of the saddle and gel with the profile of the scooter.
Powering the Vespa 946 Belissimia is a 155cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor churning out 13.2PS of peak power and torque rating stands at 12.6Nm. Piaggio has loaded the 946 with electronic goodies like disc brakes at the front and rear with ABS (anti-lock braking system) and ASR (anti-slip regulator) Traction Control, which, with the aid of electronic system, helps the rear tyre from slipping. The body of the 946 is crafted from welded steel, but for the first time in Vespa’s history they have employed aluminium components in the frame and mudguard to make the scooter lighter and durable.
To maintain exclusivity, the Vespa 946 will be limited to just 100 units and it wouldn’t be cheap by any means. The Vespa 946 has been at €7,850 or Rs 6.35 lakh, which is an additional €375 premium over the standard offering.
