MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi registered yet another win at the 2015 Monster Energy Monza Rally. The race was held in front of his home fans who cheered for the Italian racer who fended off a late charge by WRC driver Thierry Neuville. Rossi normally ends his racing season by jumping from two-wheels to four-wheels and has been a familiar face at the Monza Rally for the past few years. The rally cuts across the Monza national park and the Grand Prix circuit. Rossi was joined by his childhood friend Alessio 'Uccio' Salucci as his navigator for the rally. Coming into the final day of the race, Rossi had a comfortable lead of 33.6 seconds and he drove the Ford Fiesta WRC 1.6 without any mistake to secure his fourth win at the Monza Rally.
Rossi had previously won in 2006, 2007 and 2012. He did face stiff competition on the final day from Hyundai WRC driver Neuville but his overnight lead meant he took the win comfortably. Rossi had an eventful 2015 season of MotoGP which he was close to winning but narrowly missed out to team-mate Jorge Lorenzo to finish second in the standings. The 2016 season will most likely be his last in premiere class and Rossi will be hoping to leave the sport on a high by winning the championship title for the 10th occasion.
