Those waiting for larger capacity motorcycles can now start saving up for next year. 2013 promises not just to be enticing for the affordable performance bike segment but for middle-weight two-wheelers as well. Not just that, you may also witness the entry of British bike maker Triumph in India. Here are the bikes from Rs 7 to 12 lakh price bracket

Kawasaki Z800

Kawasaki Z800

Expected: Mid-2013, Price: Rs 7 - 8 lakh, Channel: CKD

After having unleashed its Ninja brand upon Indian bikers, Kawasaki is readying to expand its Indian product range and there is news that the recently unveiled Kawasaki Z800 streetfighter machine will make its Indian debut by Mid-2013. Made at Kawasaki’s Thailand plant, the Z800 replaces the previous Z750 naked motorcycle from its line-up. Much like the Kawasaki Ninja 250R and the bigger 650R siblings that are also made in the Thailand facility and brought into India via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit channel, expect Kawasaki to introduce the Z800 in India similarly as a CKD model. Complimenting the new found capacity hike is a completely revised design makeover that gives the Z800 a hyper-aggressive and belligerent stance which is bound to steal the hearts of lovers of streetfighter motorcycles.

Triumph Speed Triple

Triumph Speed Triple

Expected: Late-2013, Price: Rs 8 lakh, Channel: CBU

Naked street machines are one of the most practical performance machines the world over and we love them for that. And amongst the strong variety of motorcycles in this segment, the Triumph Speed Triple is revered as one of the finest motorcycles to come from UK. And now the British brand is all geared to launch the Speed Triple in India sometime late next year. Powered by a 1,050cc inline three cylinder liquid cooled engine, the Speed Triple pumps out a whooping 135PS of power at 9,400rpm and 111Nm of torque peaking at 7,750rpm. The Speed Triple will lock horns against the likes of the Honda CB1000R, the Yamaha FZ1 and the Suzuki Bandit.

Triumph Tiger 800 XC

Triumph Tiger 800 XC

Expected: Late-2013, Price: Rs 11.4 lakh, Channel: CBU

So finally the adventure riders in the country will be relieved when the Triumph Tiger 800 XC breaks cover in India next year. One out of the seven models to be launched by Triumph, the Tiger 800 XC will be an important model which will explore the untapped adventure motorcycle segment in the country, which is scheduled for a big change in coming years. The Tiger 800 XC has been revered as one of the most potent and well-established trailies internationally and its Indian foray is highly awaited.

Powered by a 799cc three cylinder engine, the machine weighs about 215kg (wet) and offers one of the best ride quality in its class. Expect the motorcycle to go on sale in India by late 2013 at a said price of Rs. 11.4 lakh (ex-showroom). Imported as a CBU, the Tiger 800 XC will still be a bit heavy on the pocket but it will be money well spent for hardcore adventure riders.

Kawasaki ZX10R

Expected: Late-2013, Price: Rs 12-14 lakh, Channel: CBU

The only one left to make its appearance in the litre-class fight in India, Kawasaki has taken a different approach and a welcoming one at that, by starting from lower capacity models and then climbing up the horsepower ladder. But the mean green 2013 Kawasaki ZX10R is all set to make its Indian debut next year albeit this one will be directly imported from Japan as a CBU unlike the rest of the Ninjas sold in the country that are brought in as CKDs. Which means the ZX10R won’t be coming really at a price advantage over its rivals, but taking into consideration the rave reviews the new ZX10R has gathered around the world, it will certainly be a sight to watch the big Kwacker roll on our roads flashing its green mean side late 2013 onwards.
