Triumph Motorcycles India teamed up with the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride 2014 – a global phenomenon started by a group of Australian friends in 2012 – and riders gathered on Sunday across different cities in India for a global celebration of motorcycling, style, friendship and banter.

The idea behind the ride is to have a great time and raise awareness as well as funds to combat a disease that kills one gentleman every hour somewhere in the world.

The concept of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride began with a picture of Don Draper from television’s Mad Men. The picture inspired café racer aficionado Mark Hawwa of thinking about a Suit Ride in Perth. The idea quickly took off, starting in just one city and then quickly growing into a global event.

The 2013 event raised AUD 277,000, about Rs 1.5 crore, and ran across 145 cities in 38 countries. The need for a credible global partner who could provide the springboard and infrastructure to deliver the event on an ever growing worldwide basis was required and resulted in the partnership with Triumph.

This year, the ride took place in 254 cities around the world on September 28 and raised over $ 1 million to support research into prostate cancer.
