Trident Iceni claimed to be the world's fastest diesel sports car

The British sports car brand, Trident, has announced the global launch of its new sports car, Iceni, billed as the world's fastest and most efficient diesel-powered sports car. The Iceni was unveiled in 2012 as a convertible, and is now joined by the Iceni Magna fastback and Iceni Venturer shooting brake. All three models have the same specifications, each with their own distinctive design.

The Trident Iceni sports cars receive clean curves and a sculpted rear. The cars also incorporate over 39 bespoke, designed and manufactured components, including independent control of each car seat and oculight roof.  In addition, every Iceni can be built to specific customer specifications, ensuring a unique driving experience. The boot in all the cars is generously spaced allowing a decent amount of luggage to be carried.

Phil Bevan, Designer and Founder of Trident says, “The Trident cars deliver incredible speed and performance combined with an outstanding fuel efficiency, achieved through our unique torque multiplication technology.”

All models are powered solely by a 6.6-litre V8 turbocharged diesel engine, which produces 430PS of power and a massive 1,290Nm of torque. Upgrades are available, which can enable the car to produce 660PS of power and a staggering 1,290Nm of torque. According to the British automaker the Iceni uses torque multiplication technology to achieve a unique combination of speed, power and fuel efficiency.

Trident claims that its Iceni can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 305kmph. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. According to the British carmaker its Iceni can do around 3,200km on a single tank of mineral or bio-diesel fuel.

The three Iceni sports cars are available to buy globally with prices starting from Rs 2 crore including the import duty in India.
