The Innova Crysta was unveiled to eager audiences at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo and now our sources tell us that the car will be launched in India in April 2016. The new MUV will be more expensive than the avatar that precedes it and will be more luxurious, more spacious and offer more performance on the whole.
In terms of exterior looks, the Innova Crysta is more premium than the Innova that was available thus far with a large chrome grille and swept back headlamps up front and large tail lamps at the rear giving it a new look. The new Crysta also gets a thorough upgrade in the interior with a lot more space and a more premium looking cabin with more features and a well designed dashboard. Of course, the Innova will be available with both six and seven seater layouts with the former getting two comfortable captain seats in the centre row.
In terms of engines, the Crysta will come with two engine options, the new 2.8-litre GD diesel engine and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder VVT-i petrol engine. Both engines will come with a choice of a 6-speed manual gearbox and the long awaited automatic too. The automatic is said to be the same 6-speed unit that does duty in the Fortuner.
As we mentioned earlier, the Crysta will be a more expensive car to buy than the Innova was earlier and expect prices to start around the Rs 11 lakh price point going all the way up to Rs 18 lakh for the top of the line variants. That said, even at these price points, we think that the Innova Crysta will have quite a few buyers in India considering this is the first real update that the Innova has received since its launch more than a decade ago.
