Toyota Etios/Liva Diesel Coming Soon!

by Rahul Basu Posted on 31 Aug 201156,492 Views11 Comments

Scheduled for launch on the 9th of September 2011, the diesel injected Toyota Etios and Liva hatchback versions will certainly make India's diesel car space a brighter and more varied market to choose from

We’ve waited and wondered, and perhaps even asked why, but all said and done there is no denying the fact that Toyota has waited long enough studying and analysing the demand for diesel cars in India, only to now officially announce that it will launch diesel versions of its Etios sedan and Liva hatchback on the 9th of September 2011.

The globally successful diesel mill up for the task is none other than the company’s versatile D-4D engine, that is already in action in India under the hood of the Toyota Corolla Altis and the best-selling Innova MPV.

The already refined 1.4 liter diesel powerplant that has worked wonderfully for Toyota’s diesel cars in India till date will now work its magic on the Etios and recently launch Liva hatch. However unlike in the Corolla Altis, the oil burner for both Etios and the Liva will not feature a Variable Geometry Turbocharger, which will definitely result in a slight drop in the overal power output on both cars as compared to the Altis.

But taking the overall credentials of this proven performer, the launch of the new Toyota Etios and Liva diesel models will most definitely silence the countless enquiries that Toyota customers have made about the availability of a diesel version of both cars right since the launch of the Etios sedan in 2010.

For further insights on the credibility and performance attributes of the D-4D diesel powerplant that now will come alive once again on the new Etios and Liva diesel models, check out our Etios Liva Diesel transplant preview : Etios Twins ready for Diesel Transplant

I hate the funny headests of Etios.. they are like pointed ears and look yuck. The odometer is rubbish too.. that is the reason why I have not even test-driven the Etios.

Liva has its own fun to drive in rush and higway too. So cute common liva........................................................ ...................................................................... Ab bari hamari hai.

INDIA IS A DIESEL COUNTRY. TOYOTA SHOULD FIRE MANAGERS WHO BROUGHT PETROL VARIANTS AHEAD OF DIESEL

Neither the Etios nor the liva is living up to toyota or any other high standard in terms of design or aesthetic appeal.

Toyota has done a poor job on the front look of Etios. The laughing face is a bit awkward and does not spell class. It could have been 'out right reject ' if launched in developed market. Toyota has for once faultered and front grill works need a relook. However kudos for the rear of Etios.
