2017 Toyota Corolla

Toyota Motor Corporation has released the first official images of the facelifted Corolla on the internet. The Toyota Corolla carries a long history and has also claimed the title of the best-selling car in the world in the past. The car has been updated with revised styling on the exteriors. The facelifted Corolla will be introduced in the European market in the first quarter of 2017 followed by India later in the same year.

Aesthetically, the facelifted Corolla receives a completely restyled nose highlighting a wider stance with a more attractive design. The centre upper grille is smaller and is flanked by sleek all-LED headlamps units which follow Toyota’s Under Priority and Keen Look design. The front bumper is now more edgier with a large lower grille. In the profile-view of the car, the doors are accentuated with chrome handles which further enhances the look of the sedan. At the rear, the tail lamps retain the same shape but have been redesigned for the facelift apart from which the rest is pretty much the same. Toyota has offered a choice of 16 and 17 inch alloys further emphasizing the appearance of the car. The car will be offered in nine colour shades out of which three are new, namely- Platinum Bronze, Tokyo Red and Earth Bronze.

On the tech front, the international-spec Corolla gets the Toyota Safety Sense as a standard feature across its complete product line-up. This system, with the help of a laser and camera mounted on the windscreen, process the information received to provide assistance in avoiding and manoeuvring around road accidents. Apart from the above mentioned safety system, the 2017 edition Corolla will also feature safety systems like a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Road Sign Assist (RSA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).

The company hasn’t disclosed any engine details of the new offering yet. However, we feel the facelifted model will continue to sport the existing 1.8-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines currently performing duty in the on-going model. Also, the international models will also power the same engines but with a different state of tune.

When launched, the facelifted Toyota Corolla will compete up against the likes the Hyundai Elantra, the Skoda Octavia and the Chevrolet Cruze in the sedan segment.
