The year 2014-15 has been a lot better year for car manufacturers than the recent ones gone by. And that means discounting on cars has reduced considerably as the year comes to an end. 2. Chevrolet Spark

Another Chevrolet that’s even older than the Beat and far lesser in demand than it too is the Spark. For those who are looking for their first car who want a simple easy to drive hatchback at a low price, the Spark could have been considered as an alternative to the Hyundai Eon and the Maruti Alto if the deal was sweeter, but exchange bonus and loyalty bonus for a entry level car is not a good deal and that makes the discount amount to only Rs 25,000. 3. Chevrolet Sail U-Va

Not as old as the first two but certainly out of buyers’ radar is the Chevrolet Sail U-Va. In the crowded large hatchback segment, the Sail hatchback is just not appealing enough, partly because of the car and partly because of the brand. That said, the Sail hatchback offers excellent space, a dependable diesel engine and has recently received a set of updates that makes it a better deal than ever, especially if you are trading in your smaller Chevy for it.

4. Tata Bolt

Finally not a Chevrolet as the company runs out of hatchbacks to offer discounts on. In fourth position is the Bolt, the rather impressive new-age small car from a renewed Tata Motors. As good as the Bolt is, it isn’t doing so well for Tata Motors and that might be worrying the carmaker. But that spells good news for you if you are looking for a premium hatchback. Since a large chunk of the deal is a trade-in, this offer is not beneficial to a first time car buyer.

5. Volkswagen Polo

Volkswagen updated the Polo last year and with it finally gave the excellent chassis, a diesel engine to complement it. Sales have improved ever since and so Volkswagen wants to keep the sales momentum running with the below mentioned offers. The Polo is the second best premium hatchback in the country after the Elite i20 and in a few aspects in the driving department, betters the i20. If you want a sorted hatchback that’s a lot more affordable than the Hyundai, the Polo is your best buy, but just the diesel, not the petrol.

The Figo is in the final leg of its journey now. It may possibly not get discontinued after the Ka hatchback and sedan are launched in India and may follow in the footsteps of the Fiesta, which is now called the Classic, but either way, the Figo is past its prime and that means better deals for you. 7. Toyota Etios Liva

Toyota’s only hatchback in India is a hard sell for its dealers. The car hasn’t set the sales charts on fire but manages to hold its own in the highly competitive segment. It offers good space, is easy to drive and comes with the reliability of a Toyota, if in a bit diluted form. So if you want a car that’s easy on the wallet, feels like a big car on the inside and is as easy to drive as any Toyota should be, the Liva can be considered at these discounts.

Two Marutis round up this top ten list, the first one being the Alto 800. Discounts however have dried up considerably from Maruti as the sales are better than ever. 10. Maruti Alto K10

The Alto K10 is the Maruti to buy if you want one. It has been heavily updated and comes with the ever so agile 1.0-litre K series engine.
