Tata Zest bookings commence

Tata’s latest compact sedan, the Zest is slated for a launch next month and gearing up towards the launch, the company has started accepting bookings. The pre-booking amount is set at Rs 21,000 and can be done online by debit or credit card payment or at Tata Motors dealerships. The company is conducting events across major malls and shopping complexes in cities soon where prospective customers can get a chance to see the car. 

At dealerships though, the car will be available on display and test drives only in August with a launch slated sometime around mid-August according to dealers. The Zest will be priced in between the Indigo eCS and the Manza and will take on the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Maruti Dzire head on in the compact sedan segment.

The Zest though will be the only car in this price range to have a diesel automatic in its line-up. The automatic is an AMT similar to the one in the Celerio but mated to the diesel engine. It could prove to be very popular in the transport segment. Speaking of engines, the Zest will be the first of new age Tatas to use the 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol engine developing 90PS of power and 140Nm of torque. The diesel is the tried and tested 1.3-litre Fiat sourced Multijet engine developing 90PS and 200Nm. The base Zest variant though will get the 75PS detuned unit. Both the petrol and the diesel will get 5-speed manuals besides the AMT in the diesel.
