Tata Motors has announced that the Safari Storme launched in October 2012 has racked up over 6,000 bookings. With its engine and underpinnings from the Aria the Safari Storme is a modern SUV that Tata is sure will not cannibalise on the Safari or Aria's sales

Tata Motors has now announced that it has received over 6,000 bookings for the Safari Storme from its date of launch on October 17, 2012 after its launch in Tamil Nadu. The company has been carrying out the launch of the vehicle gradually in North and East India before entering the western and southern markets.

Launched in 2012, the new Tata Safari Storme may not look too different from the ageing Safari but it is in fact a new vehicle with underpinnings as well as the engine being shared with the modern Tata Aria. This might be a little confusing for average car buyers but Tata begs to differ.

Tata is confident that despite being sold alongside the Safari and Aria the Safari Storme will not cannibalise sales for the company as the Safari Storme features Variable Turbine Technology (VariCOR) technology in the engine department offering better refinement and performance over the Safari’s Di-Cor engine.

The Tata Safari Storme is a premium SUV loaded with luxury features stated a Tata official to further distinguish the vehicle. Prices start at Rs. 8.34 lakh for the Safari Di-Cor while prices for the Safari Storm start at Rs 9.95 lakh and go all the way up to Rs. 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Tata Aria retails form Rs. 9.95 lakh to Rs 16.64 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and falls in the premium MUV segment.
