Homegrown automaker, Tata Motors, has reported an eight per cent increase in its global sales. The carmaker along with its luxury brand, Jaguar Land Rover, has sold 85,742 vehicles in December 2014 as compared to 79,220 units in the same period last year.

The company sold 55,145 units in the passenger vehicles category last month as opposed to 49,721 units in December 2013, up by 11 per cent, Tata Motors said in its statement.

Sales of Jaguar Land Rover increased by seven per cent to 42,962 units in December as compared to 40,244 units in the same month last year.

The commercial vehicles sale increased by four per cent in December 2014 to 30,597 units from 29,499 units in the last calendar year, the company stated in its media release.

Tata Motors marks its presence in several regions across the world including UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia; and vehicles are marketed in various countries including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia, South America and Russia.
