Tata Motors Dharwad plant commences operations
Tata Ace Zip and Magic Iris to be manufactured at new Dharwad plant

Tata Motors has commenced production of its Ace Zip small passenger carrier and 600kg payload Magic Iris micro truck at its new plant at Dharwad, Karnataka.
P M Telang, Managing Director - India Operations, Tata Motors, said, "We are very delighted to commence manufacturing operations in Dharwad and further expand our operations in the country. This move is integral to Tata Motors' dominant presence in the Commercial Vehicles market."
Tata Motors has invested over Rs 900 crore in the 405-acre facility that will initially have a production capacity of 90,000 units per annum. Further expansion in production capacity has been provided for.
The plant has state-of-the-art equipment, built-in flexibilities to assemble large numbers and different variants in mixed mode production and will employ lean manufacturing practices. It has been constructed according to Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) norms.
Some 350 civil and plant engineering workers had been sourced from Europe, USA, Japan, South Korea and India. 76 Industrial Training Institutes in Karnataka have been included for the recruitment of personnel.
