When Tata Motors announced Lionel Messi as its brand ambassador, they showed us a quick video of the football superstar. As part of the video, they also gave us a sneak peak of their upcoming hatchback offering – the Kite. While part of the exterior was shown in the video, this time round, some of the car’s interior has been spotted.

The Tata Kite’s dashboard isn’t identical to the one we have already seen on the Bolt, but it is expected to be washed in black with highlights just like its elder sibling. The oval shaped centre console will hold the air-con vents and in the higher end variants even a touchscreen infotainment system. The Kite too will source the touch-screen infotainment system from Harman. The steering wheel though is similar to the current crop of Tata cars.

On the outside, the Kite will have Tata’s signature honeycomb smiley grille underlined by a chrome strip. Unlike the Bolt, the Kite will give a miss to the projector type headlamps. At the back it sports diamond shaped taillights and a gentle crease across the length of the boot-lid.

The Tata Kite will sport a 1.2-litre petrol unit that will make 85PS of peak power and 110Nm of peak torque. The Kite will also be offered with 1.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor that is expected to make under 70PS of power and 140Nm of peak torque. The Kite is expected to be launched at a starting price of around Rs 3.5-3.75 lakh and will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and the Hyundai i10.
