Suzuki Hayate EP

Last year, Suzuki gave its 110cc commuter some visual updates. They relaunched the Hayate with some brand new colours and decals, a new rear shock absorber and tubeless tyres. This year they are planning to introduce the Hayate with a few more substantial updates.

Like all motorcycle manufacturers that bring in commuter offerings, Suzuki too seems to be working towards making their bikes more efficient. Although this new Suzuki Hayate EP will continue to be a 112.8cc unit, it will now come with Suzuki Eco Performance technology. Suzuki has made use of a super sleek piston, high-ignition spark plug and low friction cylinder and piston rings in the Hayate EP. The usage of these materials in the construction of the engine has resulted in a 27 per cent increase in overall efficiency. The older Hayate returned a claimed efficiency of 71kmpl and the new one is expected to return about 90kmpl. Engine aside, the Suzuki Hayate EP will also get a minor makeover including a longer seat for enhanced comfort and addition of three new colours - Metallic Oort Grey, Pearl Mira Red and Glass Sparkle Black.

Masayoshi Ito, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), said “The all new Suzuki Hayate EP appeals to every modern Indian rider. Our engineers and designers have worked very hard to give the Hayate EP superior fuel efficiency without compromising on pick-up. Added to that, the unmatched riding comfort of the Hayate EP makes it an ideal ride for daily commuters. We are confident that the new Hayate EP will be very well received in the market.”

The new Hayate EP will be launched in the Indian market in March. With the kind of efficiency that Suzuki claims the Hayate will return, it will be interesting to see it lock horns with the newly launched TVS Victor and the likes.
