Steelbird is aiming to cash in on the booming two-wheeler Indian market by opening its first Riderz Shop retail outlet at Karol Bagh, New Delhi. The Riderz Shop is a one stop shop for bikers, with  a range of helmets, jackets and suits, gloves, goggles and pannier boxes in store.

Steelbird helmets are designed in technical collaboration with Bieffe. It has unveiled its first carbon fibre helmet that has been designed in-house and costs Rs 13,000,  the most expensive helmet from an Indian manufacturer.

Steelbird Managing Director Rajeev Kapur said, “Our objective is to provide best quality riding gear with a huge range of products at the doorstep of the consumer. We shall keep introducing new and hi-tech biking gear in due course of time in these shops.

“Although Steelbird has a significant presence in multi-brand stores with a widespread distribution network, we realised that there is a need to enter the direct marketing retail model to spend qualitative time, giving information about the products the way we desire,” added Kapur.

“While motorcycles account for a huge share of the Indian two-wheeler market, riders hardly have any choice if they wish to buy authentic, branded and international quality riding gear. The Riderz Shop will certainly bridge this gap and educate people to go for qualitative products that offer safety and style,” said Shailendra Jain, Head - Sales and Marketing.

Steelbird plans to set up 200 Riderz Shops across metros and tier 1 cities in India in the next two years, including  Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmadabad and Indore. The company plans to set up 8-10 dealerships in New Delhi in the next couple of months.
