SsangYong’s designers have decided to focus around performance, safety and environmental friendliness for building the premium crossover concept XIV 1, and with good reason as the segment is growing very fast in western markets. Extensive glass areas have been integrated into the body structure with a wrap around windscreen for wide view out of the car. The XIV 1 concept slots into the CUV segment which stands for Crossover Utility Vehicle. SsangYong say that the five seater CUV has an innovative and spacious interior design with new seating layouts, the interiors will be packed with electronic gizmos such as mobile devices and smart instruments.

From the outside the XIV 1 is designed to be a small urban crossover rather than a full sized SUV or MUV. The small crossover vehicle segment has experienced considerable growth in the western markets as these cars combine economical running costs with the spaciousness and imposing stance of an SUV.
