Skoda to replace stolen car badges for free
As a goodwill gesture, Skoda has announced that it will fit new badges for free on any car that goes in for a service

Once a crime that plagued only high-end vehicles, logo/badge theft has taken to vehicles across the price spectrum. Skoda cars are primarily bearing the brunt of the crime in Mumbai. Thieves have been stripping Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles of their badges and selling them off in the aftermarket. Vehicle owners are then either forced to buy them again for Rs. 1,100 from Skoda dealerships or opt for a cheaper one from the aftermarket.
Driving around without a badge on the car can be quite frustrating. Tired of the menace, vehicle owners have given up and stopped replacing the missing badges.
As a goodwill gesture, Skoda has announced that dealerships in Mumbai will fit new badges for free on any car that goes in for a service. The company will attach either the front badge or the rear or both. Skoda hopes the free replacement exercise will prevent the need for people to buy stolen badges from the aftermarket, which, in effect, will hopefully put an end to badges being stolen, .
Way to go Skoda!
This is not the first time Skoda has taken up an initiative to benefit its customers in India. In April 2012, the Czech car maker introduced its 'If you Drink, we drive' program to help Skoda customers get back home safely after that extra drink.

My response to Skoda's initiative is "Hats off to you guys, very few car makers do actually think this way..."Mr Sharad, just a comment, not to offend, but, if Skoda puts inferior quality badges on its cars, what will the difference be in the premium car and any other low cost car?

Simply implement badges which are breakable when you try to remove them. To state in different words, implement badges of inferior quality. I do understand the rules for quality but this is something that will drive the thieves out of business
