The Czech automaker is on its way to surpass the 10 lakh sales milestone in a year for the first time in the brand's history

Skoda Octavia front three quarters action shot

The Volkswagen-owned car brand saw a remarkable sales growth in countries such as UK, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Belgium.  The success story was repeated in other markets such as Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. However, it is China which played a major role in helping the Czech car brand in writing its success story.

The company states that China is the strongest market with sales being stable throughout the year. HC Winfred Vahland, CEO, Skoda, is confident that the company will set new sales record this year. According to him, the positive sales results achieved in the month of November makes the milestone of 10 lakh vehicle sale in one calendar year certain.

Skoda’s November sales figures were up by 46.9 per cent compared to the same month last year. The new Skoda Octavia is the most in demand model in China which has played a significant role in increasing the sales of the carmaker by 112.4 per cent in the land of the sleeping giant.

The scene is, however, not so impressive for the Volkswagen-owned car brand in India. Skoda managed to sell only 1,200 car units in November this year as opposed to the 1,600 units in the same month last year. The poor after-sales service is one of the reasons that can be blamed for the decline in the sales figures in India.
