The smallest member of the Skoda family will be presented as a five-door version for the first time at the Geneva Auto Salon in March this year

Skoda Citigo

In a rapidly growing subcompact segment, the Czech car maker’s smallest vehicle yet appears to have the biggest potential. Anyone who’s heard or seen the new Volkswagen up! is sure to have spent some quality time looking at the new Citigo from Skoda, built on pretty much the same platform as the up! but tweaked to Skoda styling and stance.

Already on sale in the Czech Republic since late 2011, the Skoda Citigo will be presented for the very first time as a five-door version at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show scheduled to begin on the 6th of March this year.

In keeping with the car maker’s ‘Simple Clever’ brand DNA, the Skoda Citigo ranks amongst the most compact and roomiest hatchbacks in its segment. Besides installing never seen before features such as a photo and document holder, a bag hook on the glove compartment and a range of net holders, the Citigo’s designers have placed great emphasis on safety in this car, fetching it the top score of five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test.

Powering by a three-cylinder petrol engine the new Citigo achieves a mileage of 4.1 l/100 km while giving out just 96 g CO2/km. The Czech Republic’s Car of the Year 2012 will be launched in a three-door and five-door version in European markets from mid-May 2012. Skoda aims to increase its worldwide deliveries to a minimum of 1.5 million units a year by 2018.
