Skoda at the Mumbai International Motor Show 2015

Starting from the Rapid to the flagship Superb, Skoda showcased their entire line-up of cars at the Mumbai International Motor Show 2015. Last year, Skoda introduced the updated Yeti and Superb while the refreshed Octavia made its entry into the Indian market in 2013. The Rapid on the other hand hasn’t quite received a cosmetic upgrade, however, under the hood, it now also comes with the Volkswagen 1.5-litre diesel engine that also works force in the Polo and the Vento.

From their entire range of cars, the Octavia was the first one to get the new butterfly grille up front. After taking a rather long break, the Octavia returned to the market with quite a bang. Based on the MQB platform the Octavia not only boasts of comfortable interiors but powered by the trusted 2.0-litre TDI unit from Volkswagen, it has created a reasonable stir in the market.

Meanwhile, its elder sibling, the Superb too seems to have matured over the years. In its 10 years in the Indian market, the Superb has received a generation change just once. The latest model that was showcased though is a mere facelift. The Yeti has a pretty similar story to tell. Although the new Yeti, as Skoda likes to call it, is pretty much the same as the previous model, Skoda has worked on the cosmetic front.

While these three cars have got the much needed update, the Rapid looked a little dated parked at their stall at the Mumbai International Motor Show 2015. Although it now sports the new 1.5-litre diesel unit and continues to use the same 1.6-litre petrol unit, the need for a cosmetic upgrade does not go unnoticed. Aside from Skoda; Volkswagen, Renault and Mahindra too showcased their entire line-up of cars at this year’s Mumbai International Motor Show.
