At the ongoing 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, Aston Martin reveals plans to add three new models to its line-up by the end of the decade

With the commencement of the new Financial Year bringing in a fresh flow of funds, Aston Martin is all set to revitalise the brand. And this transformation will be captained by Andy Palmer, who joined as the Chief Executive Officer of the British brand in September last year.

As part of what the Aston Martin calls the Second Century plan, the company intends to replace every model in its current line-up by the end of the decade. Keeping in mind that Aston Martin has four models on offer – the DB9, the Rapide, the Vantage and the Vanquish, it is quite an aggressive five-year plan, but one that is expected to bring with it the winds of change for the company.

But that’s not all. To make the task at hand more difficult, Aston’s plan also includes introduction of up to three new models. Now we already know that the brand has been working on a Lagonda sedan that will be more widely available than the limited by number Taraf. Moreover it is also taking steps to bring the DBX Crossover Concept into production. What the third model will be, is something that we don’t know at this point.

At a press conference in Shanghai, Andy Palmer said, “The Second Century plan not only delivers exciting and highly desirable new luxury sports cars in the traditional sense, but also embraces new powertrain technology.”

Aside from all the new models to be introduced, Aston Martin could be working on a new powerplant as well. Now whether it’s a hybrid or just another massive gasoline unit a question only time will answer. But this comprehensive strategy for the growth and development of the brand is the largest investment plan in its 102 year history, a company report stated. At the ongoing 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, Aston Martin showcased the DBX Crossover Concept and the Lagonda Taraf.
